We honor David’s legacy through the work being done at David’s Legacy Foundation. In recognition of David’s 21st birthday this month, we are excited to share 21 DLF Accomplishments in 2020.
- Launch of IndieFlix film The Upstanders, featuring the Molak family story
- 10,778 students, educators, and parents in Texas have been reached through DLF presentations
- CDC shows electronic bullying decreased for Texas high schoolers by 2.5% between 2017 (when David’s Law passed) and 2019
- Pivoted to virtual presentations due to COVID-19
- Hosted IndieFlix film Trilogy – Angst, Like, and The Upstanders with over 1000 people watching
- Grew our number of volunteer attorney’s in San Antonio for the Don’t Bully Me Project
- Hired two program staff to support the DLF mission and work
- 57,000 people have taken the sticker pledge to “Never use my device as a weapon”
- Expanded social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
- Updated and launched new website
- Helped 33 number of families through our Don’t Bully Me Project
- Our volunteer attorneys with the Don’t Bully Me Project utilized David’s Law to file the first injunction
- Hosted our first webinar Rep. Steve Allison and Sen. Jose Menendez
- Launched our “Tuesday Table Talks” weekly series of conversation starters for family and friends
- Created new material for our Kindergarten through 12th grade school presentations
- Developed partnerships with local organizations supporting children and mental health
- Hired (3) interns to support the DLF mission
- Onboarded 3 new board members
- Built strong relationships with many Bexar County school districts around showing The Upstanders film
- Held ongoing conversations with legislators to continue strengthening David’s Law in 2021
- Continued to grow our El Paso volunteer base for school presentations and Don’t Bully Me Project needs
